In developing production test systems for a variety of clients, it was found that there were many recurring requirements. Rather than re-inventing the wheel for each test system, it was decided to develop a software framework which supported a set of standard requirements, but also gave flexibility for customisation and expansion. Originally developed to fulfil a specific customer need, this framework is now widely used in all similar Simplicity AI projects and by in-house developers at a variety of clients.

Compressor Monitoring and Control
Used as a research and development tool for oil free compressor technology, this system allows full control and monitoring of the unit under test through an intuitive software interface. By utilizing National Instruments FieldPoint hardware and the LabVIEW software development environment, Simplicity AI were able to deliver a system tailored to their clients specific requirements within a short time scale.

Rugged Offshore Data Logger
High precision 24bit acquisition with a National Instruments Ethernet DAQ system, combined with precision sensor excitation in an IP65 enclosure with corrosion resistant connectors. A custom LabVIEW application manages sensor configuration, data acquisition, processing and logging to file. A seperate land base station performs sensor calibration prior to shipping off-shore.

Synchrotron Beam Loss Event Capture
Diamond Light Source require a data logging system to capture signal data before and after a synchrotron beam loss event to provide information on maximising up-time. The signals, which are of mixed type with frequencies between DC and 100MHz, need to be simultaneously acquired when a trigger indicates that the beam has been lost. A single software application allows software operators to control the capture hardware and graphically analyse the logged data.

Video Assisted Manufacturing Build Station
A computer driven video assisted build station which allows production line operators to build up products with ease, by following on-screen videos and text instructions. Component picking is simplified by using a pick-to-light system, which indicates which bin an item is located in via an LED and also detects when it has been has been picked by the operator via an infra-red beam detector. As component bins get emptied the operator indicates this to the software by scanning the barcode on the empty item, which alerts the line supervisor via a traffic light system. At the end of a product build a barcode label in generated to allow identification and tracking of the completed unit.
